Poem a Day in May Prompt 6: Narrative

woman-notebook-working-girlWelcome to Day 6 of my personal month-late NaPoWriMo challenge. You can check out my previous post here, or click here for Day 1.

Prompt 6: Narrative

A narrative poem is exactly what it sounds like: it tells a story. Here are some ideas to get you started. Pick one and run with it.

  1. Tell the story of how you met your best friend or significant other.
  2. Think about the stories you tell to friends when you want to share something entertaining. Could you tell one in a poem?
  3. Tell the story of a transitional period on your life. Maybe you moved from one place to another, or you changed schools, or graduated, or started a new job. There have been entire chapbooks written about these sorts of things.

If you try this or any of the prompts I’m sharing throughout this month, let me know! If you try a prompt on your blog, share the link! I’ll check it out.

I also love to read any thoughts or writing tips you may have. Feel free to share them in the comments!
