Poem a Day in May Prompt 10: Word Association

20160215_124411Welcome to Day 10 of my personal month-late NaPoWriMo challenge. You can check out my previous post here, or click here for Day 1.

Prompt 10: Word Association

Today I’ll be writing 10 words, choosing 1, then using word association to land on a premise for my next poem. Here are the words:

Animal

Open

Salty

Politics

Brother

Distance

Social

Sequence

Color

Road

None of them are super complicated, but hopefully one will lead you to something that sparks your interest. Pick a word and freewrite using word association until you stumble upon a topic that interests you, then write! If you don’t come up with anything for one word, try another.

If you try this, or any of the prompts I’m sharing throughout this month, let me know! If you try a prompt on your blog, share the link! I’ll check it out.

I also love to read any thoughts or writing tips you may have. Feel free to share them in the comments!
