Poem a Day in May Prompt 17: Fictional Character

woman-notebook-working-girlWelcome to Day 17 of my personal month-late NaPoWriMo challenge. You can check out my previous post here, or click here for Day 1.

Prompt 17: Fictional Character

It’s time to write a poem about a fictional character. It can be loosely based on a real person, but it can’t actually be about a real person. Invent a backstory for this character. Now decide what they’ll be doing in your poem. Try to observe this individual in his or her natural habitat. I’ve included some photos and text prompts to get you going. Pick one and see where your imagination takes you.

What is this person paying for? Why? Will their card work or be declined?

Why is this person lying in the grass? How did he or she get here? Where is this field?
person, woman, girl
Is she smiling at someone/something? If so, what/who? If not, is she sneezing? Looking at something? Why is she next to a carousel? Where is this carousel?

If you try this, or any of the prompts I’m sharing throughout this month, let me know! If you try a prompt on your blog, share the link! I’ll check it out.

I also love to read any thoughts or writing tips you may have. Feel free to share them in the comments!
