Welcome to Day 19 of my personal month-late NaPoWriMo challenge. You can check out my previous post here, or click here for Day 1.

Today I’ll be writing about the pickup truck I pass fairly often when I drive someplace because it’s a very strange pickup truck that’s been raised very high but still has ordinary sized wheels. It looks ridiculous and a bit precarious, so I’m writing about it.

But it’s your turn too!

Prompt 19: In the Car

Think about the things you drive past on a regular basis. On your way to school, to a friend’s house, to work. They become part of our routines fairly quickly, but they can also be pretty interesting. Write a poem about one of those things. Maybe it’s a playground with the coolest. slide. ever. Maybe it’s an uprooted tree that just looks really freaky. An enormous statue in somebody’s yard. Whatever it is, it’s part of your world. Don’t ignore it this time. Observe it. And imagine the answers to the questions you’ve never asked about it.  For instance–what’s it doing there?

If you try this, or any of the prompts I’m sharing throughout this month, let me know! If you try a prompt on your blog, share the link! I’ll check it out.

I also love to read any thoughts or writing tips you may have. Feel free to share them in the comments!
